Luis Orta is a Rio 2016 Olympic marathoner. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Masters degree in Sports Administration/coaching. He also received a bachelors degree in International Commerce and a second one in Hispanic Studies from UK. Luis has four different coaching certifications: USATF Level II, RRCA, Lydiard and Vdot/Jack Daniels.
Luis has competed in over 20 international championships including 6 IAAF World Championships, Pan-American Games, Central American Games, South American Games and the Olympic Games of Rio 2016 representing his home country of Venezuela.

He is a 2:15:35 marathoner and currently holds the Venezuelan National Record in the Half Marathon with a time of 1:03:09 and the Road 10k with a time of 28:39.
